  Session on expert witness immunity

The Society of Expert Witnesses changes conference programme to include analysis of expert witness immunity

The Society of Expert Witnesses Spring Conference 2011, being held at Chilworth Manor in Southamption next Friday week (6 May 2011), has seen a change in its programme to allow some analysis of the loss of expert witness immunity following the Supreme Court decision in Jones -v- Kaney. Two hours of the afternoon session have been handed over to Chris Pamplin (editor of the UK Register of Expert Witnesses), Lea Brocklebank (partner leading the liability team at Bond Pearce, Solicitors in Southampton) and Augustus Ullstein QC (of 39 Essex Street Chambers) to explore the background to the decision to remove expert witness immunity and some of the consequences that may follow for experts.

The UK Register of Expert Witnesses has negotiated a £50 discount for registered experts attending the Society conference. Just let them know you are in the Register when booking and they will charge you the very reasonable Society member early-bird rate of just £87.50 + vat!

You can find out more about this conference on the Society web site - http://www.sew.org.uk/conferences/current.cfm.
