Expert Witness Insurance

Rainy day cover exclusive to member expert witnesses

Introduction

Rainy Day image

Expert witness work carries unique risks, and even the most experienced experts can face complaints, challenges or allegations when giving evidence. That’s why having the right insurance in place is essential. Our expert witness professional indemnity scheme, developed with PIB Insurance Brokers, provides comprehensive protection designed specifically for the demands of forensic and expert testimony. It ensures you can carry out your work with confidence, knowing you’re backed by a policy built for your profession.

Having insurance means that the insurer will be able to manage any claims on your behalf, and in the worst case settle the claim should that become necessary. In other words, any claim against you no longer needs to deflect you from productive work, or keep you awake at night!

Our scheme is exclusive to members of the UK Register of Expert Witnesses and provides cover from £500,000 upwards up to £5m.

Why choose this scheme

  • Covers negligent advice, errors, omissions or missed deadlines under ‘Any One Claim’ terms
  • Includes full retroactive cover – even for work done years ago.
  • Defence costs handled, plus optional cover for regulatory proceedings or lost/damaged documents
  • Flexible cover levels starting at £500,000 (up to £5m is available)
  • Quick, simple application process for UK Register of Expert Witnesses members.

To learn more about the policy coverage, you can read the policy document , or talk to PIB.
